Healthy Living Today

Healthy living today is an advocate of the use of alternate therapies and spiritual healing to help improve your health. We would never recommend that you abandon traditional medical treatment but you could try some other therapies in conjunction with it.

The last ten years have seen a dramatic growth in studies regarding spirituality, health and well being. The medical profession is now acknowledging this. There are times, when patients have been sent home because doctors believe they have little chance of survival, only to have the patient return free of the illness or disease they were suffering. They have healed themselves.

Many people are now turning to healing ministries and spiritual healers for guidance. This is not a new phenomenon. Let’s not forget the rites, rituals and ceremonies that have been carried out by different religions and native or tribal groups for centuries. The common thing with these rites or rituals is the belief system – that the sick or injured will be healed.

Some of the types of therapies that have proven themselves over a period of time are Meditation and Visualization, Reiki, Pranic healing and the use of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Meditation and visualization are very powerful in overcoming illness and disease. There are several books written by people who have healed themselves form illness and disease using this as part of their treatment.

All of the above therapies are based on Eastern philosophies and some have been practiced for thousands of years. Over the past few decades, there has been greater acceptance of these practices. Tradition Chinese Medicine is a holistic approach to health. This means it treats the body, mind and spirit as an integrated unit. It is over 5,000 years old and the Western world is now using some elements of it, especially acupuncture.

In Chinese Medicine, the practitioner looks at the patient from a physiological and psychological aspects and when these two elements are examined, if the person is suffering form an illness a “pattern of disharmony” will show up. This then is what the practitioner will treat using the meridians that run through the body,

Reiki and Pranic healing both use Chakras to bring the body back into balance. They are both through the use of the hands. The hands are used in a sweeping motion around the body feeling the energy levels.

Are you aware that you are a psycho-physical unit; this means your mind affects your body and conversely your body affects your mind? If you can accept that the mind should rule the body and not the other way around, think of the power you have at your disposal. Health living today has just touched on what is available if you want to learn more, get some books on the subjects.
